Is the pottery food, microwave and dishwasher safe?
All items listed for sale on this site are food, microwave and dishwasher safe with the exception of products specifically labeled as “non-functional” or “art only”.
What are the recommended care instructions?
Handwashing handmade pottery is recommended and maximizes the durability of the glaze while preserving the intensity of the colors. That said, the functional pottery is dishwasher safe.

Why does my piece look slightly different from the photo?
Each piece is individually made by hand, so small differences in shape, size, glaze movement, and color are part of the process. Lighting, screen settings, and natural glaze variation can also affect how a piece appears in photos. These subtle differences are part of what makes handmade pottery unique.
Are size, glaze, and color variations normal?
Yes. Variations in size, glaze, color, texture, and surface pattern are natural in handmade ceramics. Clay and glaze respond to the maker’s hand, the kiln, and the firing process in their own way. These variations are not flaws. They are part of the character and individuality of each piece.
Are all pieces one of a kind?
Most Alchemist Ceramics pieces are one of a kind or made in very small batches. Even when pieces are created as part of the same series, no two will ever be exactly alike. Each vessel carries its own marks of process, fire, and transformation.
-
How do you package pottery for shipping?
Each piece is carefully wrapped and packaged to protect it during transit. Pottery is cushioned with protective materials and packed securely in a sturdy shipping box to reduce movement while in transit.
How long does shipping take?
Orders are typically packed and shipped within a few business days. Delivery time depends on the shipping carrier and destination. Once your order ships, you will receive tracking information so you can follow its progress.
Are shipping costs refundable?
Shipping costs are generally non-refundable unless there was an error with your order or the piece arrived damaged. Return shipping costs are typically the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed upon.
Do you ship internationally?
At this time, Alchemist Ceramics primarily ships within the United States. International shipping may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the destination, shipping cost, and risk of breakage. Please reach out before placing an international order so shipping options can be reviewed.
Can orders be picked up locally?
Local pickup is an option. Contact Alchemist Ceramics to inquire about local pickup options in the Verde Valley/Sedona area. It’s a treat to meet the people that will enjoy my art.
-
Do you accept returns?
Because each piece is handmade and often one of a kind, returns are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If you are unhappy with your purchase, please contact Alchemist Ceramics within a few days of receiving your order so we can discuss the concern. Returned pieces must be unused, undamaged, and in their original condition.
Can I exchange a piece?
Exchanges may be possible depending on available inventory. Since many pieces are one of a kind or made in small batches, an exact replacement may not be available. If an exchange is approved, the original piece must be returned unused and undamaged before a new piece is sent or selected.
What happens if my piece arrives damaged?
If your piece arrives damaged, please contact Alchemist Ceramics as soon as possible with photos of the damaged item and packaging. Because pottery is fragile, please keep the original packaging until the issue is resolved. I will review the damage and work with you on the next appropriate step, which may include a replacement, refund, or store credit, when applicable.
What if I change my mind after purchase?
Please reach out as soon as possible. If your order has not yet shipped, I may be able to cancel it. Once an order has shipped, cancellation is no longer available, but you may contact Alchemist Ceramics to discuss whether a return or exchange is possible.
-
Do you accept custom orders?
Custom orders may be accepted on a case-by-case basis, depending on the request, current studio schedule, and availability of materials. If you have something specific in mind, please reach out with details about the piece, preferred size, glaze direction, and intended use.
Can I request a specific glaze or size?
You may request a preferred glaze style, color direction, or general size. Because each piece is handmade and kiln-fired, exact matches cannot be guaranteed. Glaze movement, color, and final dimensions may vary slightly, which is part of the natural character of handmade ceramics.
How long do custom pieces take?
Custom pieces typically take several weeks to complete, depending on the complexity of the request, drying time, firing schedule, and current studio workload. A more specific timeline will be provided once the details of the custom order are reviewed.
Are custom orders refundable?
Custom orders are generally non-refundable once work has begun, since they are made specifically for you. If a deposit is required, it may be non-refundable. If there is an issue with the finished piece, please reach out so we can review the concern and determine the best next step.
