Meet the Artist

Hey, I’m David, the artist behind Alchemist Ceramics, based in the Verde Valley near Sedona, Arizona.

My path to ceramics started with an inspiring high school art teacher, Mr. Clyde Jacobs. His encouragement planted a seed that stayed with me for years. Later, during a time of real personal change, I found my way back to clay. What started as a routine high school art class became something much deeper. It became a way to reconnect with creativity, balance, and myself.

Working with clay continues to teach me patience, presence, and trust in the process. Through each piece, I explore nature, change, and renewal. Every vessel carries a little of the elements that shaped it, and a little of the transformation that shaped me.

I make pottery that’s meant to be used and lived with. Morning coffee. Evening tea. A quiet moment at the end of the day. I like the idea that a handmade vessel can become part of someone’s rhythm, not just something that sits on a shelf.

I hope the work gives you a moment to pause, connect, and feel a little more grounded.

David’s Approach

My studio is where clay, fire, water, and a little bit of mystery come together. Each piece is shaped by hand, burnished, and made with the hope that it brings a little beauty, grounding, and meaning into everyday life.

As part of my process, I burnish each piece with amethyst. For me, it brings a sense of calm, clarity, protection, and growth into the work. After firing, each piece is then charged with healing reiki energy. It’s a small ritual, but an important one.
